“My mom always told me not to fall into the ‘bad boy’ trap.” This is the first line of the book and perfectly captures the first book and the entire series. Accidental Witness is the first Sam Mariano book that I read. I was searching for a good mafia book to read and I “accidentally” found Sam. She is one of the hidden gem authors that hooked me right in the first chapter. Her books are well written, well thought out and really organized.

Accidental Witness has a some triggers. If rape is a trigger for you, then you might want to skip this book. However, if you are a true dark romance fan, you would love this book. It’s a real page turner and so hard to put down. I might have screamed a little at my husband for tapping me on the shoulder.

Mia Mitchell, while trying to sneak a call to a boy, accidentally witnessed a crime happening next door.  She recognized the guy responsible as her classmate, Vince Morelli. She heard the rumors about his family. They are dangerous and do not believe in leaving any witnesses alive. The question is what will happen to Mia if she get’s entangled with the Morellis.

However, if Mia thinks that Vince is dangerous, that’s because she has yet to meet the head of the family – Mateo Morelli. He does not disappoint. His introduction is one of my favorite parts of the book. The tension is so high that you can feel Mia’s fears coming out of the book. She is so scared that she refused to look at him until she was able to muster up a bit of courage. Yep, don’t look the monsters in the eye!

Mia officially enters the family. She gets introduced to the rest of the Morellis and was forced to live in the mansion. Hard life, I know. But beneath the glitz and the glamour, dangers still lurk. It is easy to forget the ugly beneath the mask.

Mia, some might argue, is a naive, stupid and gullible girl. I think she is resilient. I think true strength is about withstanding any hardships and overcoming the obstacles thrown your way. Mia retains her optimism and belief that everybody has some good in them no matter how much the Morellis try to dissuade her of that notion.

Overall, I really loved this book… enough to buy the rest of the series and read them within a few days. Thus far, 6 of 7 books of the series has been published. Accidental Witness ends with a HFN (Happy for now). This book and the rest of the Morelli series has made me a Sam Mariano fan for life.
