J. B. Baker

Today at Feels Like The First Time we have new author J.B. Baker.

JB: Hello. Am I in the right place? The sign on the door says you guys love new writers.

Me: Yes, please come in. I have a few questions we ask new writers. Would you mind answering some of them?

JB: Sure. Fire away.

Me: Can you tell us about the first book you have published? How long did it take you to write this book?

JB: The first book I published titled “Breaking Point” on the 17th December 2017 last year received a lot of positive feedback which has given me confidence to continue producing stories. The process of writing Breaking Point took 3-4 weeks. I would spend the first 3 weeks primarily focusing on writing with the last week focusing on editing. I loveeeee writing, hateeeee editing my own work. They say you can’t see your own mistakes as easy so I hired an editor to help ensure the final copy was spotless.

Breaking Point is a second chance romance story which allowed me to be really creative and also create an inside story. I noticed many books in the kindle store didn’t offer an inside story or a backstory, so I took the opportunity to create one and further bring the characters to life.

If a reader downloads my book and likes my writing, see an offer to know more about the story, they are more likely to download it. This gives me an opportunity to introduce myself and my writing to them as opposed to offering them a completely new book. I may continue to write more inside stories for all my books. Let’s see how it goes.

Me: Now that you have published your first book, how are you feeling right now? Excited? Scared?

JB: BOTH! Scared and excited. Scared because you just never know how your book is going to do when you hit the publish button on Amazon.

Excited because I won’t allow fear to stop me. At the start of the year I wrote down 10 goals relating to my writing career and have achieved 3 so far.

I don’t let the scary side stop me because I tell myself everyday “What’s the alternative?”. Meaning if I stop writing, what else am I going to do? Writing is my passion and love, and I want my readers to love J.B. Baker. When romance books come into a reader’s head, I want them to think “hmmm, let’s see if J.B. has anything new out.” So I am more excited than scared.

Me: Are you working on your next book? If yes, can you tell us about it?

JB: Yes I am!! My new book is called Claiming Zoey which is a small town romance. I am going to release it on the 12th March 2018.

Naoh is an Alpha male New Yorker who meets Zoey humble country fall creek girl. I spent a lot of time developing the characters and I don’t want to give too much away but I believe readers are going to love Noah’s Grandpa James and his personal assistant Glyn in the book. They really do stand out. I also wrote this book in about 3 weeks and can’t wait for to be released. I’ll share the blurb below…

claiming zoey

I left my small hometown Fall Creek when I was eighteen to make my fortune and boy did that work out.

Now, I am back from my usual hunting ground in New York where the women respond to my mere beck and call. Not Zoey though, the blast from my past – the mere sight of her makes my inner beast growl and she’s having nothing to do with my macho ways.

I want to run my fingers through her Venetian blonde hair and lose myself in her Atlantic blue eyes; I need to make this goddess of a woman mine – claiming Zoey Brooks soon becomes my only sultry sin.

Me: Wow. That sounds really interesting. I think we covered everything. I hope you come back when you release your new book.

JB: Thank you for having me.
